dr Ana Konestra

Project PI

Ana Konestra is research associate at the Institute of Archaeogy in Zagreb and PI of Re:Set grant. She has been working on Roman archaeology of the eastern Adriatic through finds analyses viewed in light of the economy, trade relations and their changes over the centuries. Through her research at several sites in Istria, the Kvarner region and Dalmatia she is dealing with landscape transformations in rural and urban environments through late antiquity and the early Middle Ages.
Her taks will be management of the project and research group coordination; work meetings organisation; fieldwork logistics and direction; coordination of finds analyses, pottery analyses; overseeing of GIS data collection, digitalisation, interpretation; cooperation in sample collection and absolute dating strategy; results interpretation; dissemination.

dr hab. Fabian Welc, prof. u.c.z.

Project collaborator

Fabian Welc is a professor and current director of the Institute of archaeology of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw. He is an archaeologist and geologist specialising in Mediterranean archaeology, paleoclimate and geophysics. Among various international collaborations he has been working on the eastern Adriatic since 2016 – especially on the island of Rab, at Danilo and in Istria. He directed an NCN grant dealing with late antiquity on the eastern Adriatic.
His tasks in the grant will fieldwork logistics and co-direction; remote sensing data interpretation; coordination and conduction of architectural documentation and data elaboration; overseeing sample collection and absolute dating strategy, results interpretation; stratigraphy interpretation; dissemination.

dr Goranka Lipovac Vrkljan

Project collaborator

Goranka Lipovac Vrkljan is senior research associate at the Institute of Archaeogy in Zagreb. She has been working on Roman archaeology of the eastern Adriatic throughout her carrier, especially in the Kvarner region. She led long-term research at the pottery workshop in Crikvenica, and one CFS project and one Z-project (Ministry of Science) dedicated to the Roman economy, and Roman defence systems of the north-eastern Adriatic.
Her tasks within this grant will be fieldwork logistics; results interpretation; legacy data analyses; dissemination.

dr Kamil Rabiega

Project collaborator

Kamil Rabiega is assistent professor at the Institute of archaeology of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw. His research interests span the Middle Ages and he is a specialist in fieldwork documentation and GIS data handling.
His tasks in the grant will be fieldwork participation; fieldwork documentation, aerial imaging; GIS data handling and interpretation; dissemination.

Anita Dugonjić, senior curator

Project collaborator

Anita Dugonjić is a senior curator at the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb and PhD candidate at the University of Zagreb. Her research interests comprise the early Middle Ages, especially in the continental part of Croatia. She has worked on the archeology of Rab Island since 2014.
Her tasks in the grant will be fieldwork participation; fieldwork documentation; finds analyses; dissemination.

Toni Brajković, museum adviser

Project collaborator

Toni Brajković is a museum adviser and current director of the Šibenik Town Museum. His research interests revolve around the Roman period in the area of Šibenik and the wider territories of the province of Dalmatia. He has conducted research at various locations in Danilo during several excavation campaigns.
His tasks within the grant will be fieldwork logistics and participation; legacy data analyses; finds analyses; dissemination.

dr Małgorzata Zaremba

Project collaborator

Małgorzata Zaremba is a geologist specializing in archaeometry, and is an assistent professor at the Institute of archaeology of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw. She worked on archaeometric characterization of various materials, such as faience and pottery.
Her tasks in the grant will be mortar samples analyses and results interpretation; dissemination.

dr Agnese Kukela

Project collaborator

Agnese Kukela has a PhD in geology with the specialization in assessment of cultural heritage monuments, mainly documentation and evaluation of stone material. She is currently a researcher and study programme director at the University of Latvia.
Her tasks in the grant will be mortar samples analyses and results interpretation; dissemination

Paula Androić Gračanin, PhD student

Paula Androić Gračanin is a PhD student at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, writing a thesis on the archaeological landscapes of Rab Island.
Her tasks in the grant will be fieldwork logistics and participation; fieldwork documentation; GIS data handling and interpretation; dissemination.

Bartosz Nowacki, PhD student

Bartosz Nowacki is a PhD student at Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, writing a thesis on late antique cooking ware on the eastern Adriatic.
